Here is your Organic Nutrition newsletter.
Good health is one of the
most important things in life.
Enjoy the many benefits good health
brings and get even more out of life.
Dear Reader,
In this issue we talk about how soon a person can notice a health improvement.
Also at this time of year many people suffer from allergies including hay-fever
and get summer colds and flu's or feel lethargic. Some simple steps can help
to defend yourself from this discomfort.
There is a very strong link between the amount of stress a person feels and
the effect it has on a person's physical health. We discuss some possible causes
which we don't always realise as being a problem.
Bringing up children is a great responsibility and there is often a juggling
act between a child's health and a child's wishes. Is it possible to satisfy
both?
We have two special offers at the moment, one ends on 9th July and the other
ends at the end of July. For just a few days you can still benefit from both.
Wishing you good health,

1) How long before I notice a health improvement?
We often get asked how quickly will a person see health improvements from changing
their habits and routines or lifestyle.
Obviously this is a difficult question to answer because it is so individual.
Noticeable differences can occur in days, certainly over a few weeks or months.
It is important to give any health program you undertake a real chance to work.
The better you work at this the better your health will become. It is important
to realise that the body, mind and spirit each interact to produce good health.
Try to maintain a positive outlook in life and learn to overcome the blocks
and barriers that life puts in your way. This is part of life and very often
our attitudes to a situation dramatically affect the outcome.
For example, within a few weeks a person could sensibly lose half a stone in
weight, be exercising a little more, be taking good supplements, lower their
stress levels and generally feel much better about life. So it doesn't have
to take long.
On the other hand we occasionally get asked by someone about a health condition
and when we question their current circumstances they tell us that they drink
6 to 8 pints of beer most evenings, smoke and are very overweight. They tell
us they don't get much exercise and watch about twenty five hours of TV a week.
They then ask how soon will something work!
Let's get serious here. A person has to take some responsibility for their own
health. Supplements will help. Good supplements like ours will help much faster.
However, one has to also take some common sense steps in your own life to get
the best out of them.
We see too many people struggling with their health unnecessarily when some
simple changes can bring about great results. It does require some willpower
of course, but that comes after one has made a real decision to
improve one's health. The decision is the first priority.
One doesn't have to be fanatical about one's health to see improvements, but
you do have to apply common sense. Noticeable differences in health can occur
quickly if you let them!

2) How to ease Summer allergies.
Most people look forward to summer but sometimes summer can be painful for
people. Not only do we all have to ensure we don't get too much sunburn, but
some people have to keep an eye out for too much pollen or dust in the atmosphere.
There are certain things which contribute to higher pollen counts and increased
allergies. These include pollens from grasses, trees, weeds and fungi spores.
These are more prevalent in the summer months and are carried by winds and
breezes.
Adverse symptoms usually include sneezing, an itchy nose, mouth or throat,
bloodshot or watery eyes as well as general tiredness.
The peak of the pollen season is around the middle of June but often pollens
are released from late February all the way up to October. Different plants
and trees release pollens at different times. Grass pollen is the most common
cause of hay fever attack but there are other causes from other plants and trees.
Some people experience hay fever symptoms at other times of year and the usual
causes of this include, dust, pet hairs, dust mites, moulds, central heating
and air conditioning systems.
Sometimes the added pollen in the summer months on top of the above list is
what finally causes the body to become overloaded and trigger an attack.
One may wonder why this problem is now increasing so much in society. A hundred
years ago this problem was much less prevalent. Well there is obviously much
debate about this and disagreement. However a number of facts are quite clear:
1) There are now far more chemicals in our environment.
2) There is much more pollution.
3) Farmers use more chemicals on fields and crops.
4) People's resistance and immune systems have become weaker.
5) Many people's diets are not as healthy as they used to be.
So what can be done about it. Well for starters you can try to get as many man-made
chemicals out of your environment as possible. Read the labels on products such
as deodorants, hair care products, household cleaners and washing up liquids
and powders. Use environmentally friendly chemical-free products. You will notice
the difference over time.
Look at the labels of the foods that you eat. Avoid too many foods that contain
artificial additives, colourings, preservatives or flavourings. Eat too many
of these and the toxins will build up causing additional pollen to quickly
overload the immune system.
You can take supplements to help boost the immune system and also do a detox
program to help get rid of the built up toxins. This will help strengthen
the body.
You should also drink plenty of water. This will help the body to flush out
toxins and allergens.
There are other things you can do in your own environment such as fitting
anti-dust mite bed sheets and keeping the level of dust down in your house.
Use laminated or wooden flooring instead of carpets. When outside wear sunglasses
and when driving keep the windows closed if you can. In most cars you can
also fit special filters into air vents which can dramatically reduce the
amount of pollen entering.
Here is an article which gives a bit more information on boosting the immune
system:

Certain herbs can help and these include echinacea, goldenseal, astragalus,
nettle and garlic. Both nettle and garlic can be eaten raw from the garden
or can be taken in the form of a supplement if this is more convenient.
Nettle tea can be made very quickly by taking a dozen or so leaves and washing
them under a tap to wash off any outside dirt etc. (Use a rubber glove or
gardening glove when picking and washing them). Then put them in a tea pot
and pour on some boiling water just as though you were making normal tea.
Leave for a few minutes and then pour into a cup through a tea strainer etc.
You can also combine this with many other herbs such as peppermint or lemon
balm or other herbal teas of your choice.
Many prescription drugs can leave a person feeling drowsy and some strong
ones have side-effects, so it's best to try to find a more natural approach.

3) Reducing stress in your life.
Here's a thought provoking article which gives a different look at some possible
causes of bad health and worry.
An article by Dr. J. Williamson:
"Very often illnesses ranging from the common cold all the way up to
far more serious things such as cancer and heart disease start or get worse
under periods of stress.
Firstly, what is stress?
There are many definitions of stress, but perhaps some of the the most useful
definitions are as follows:
Definition - Stress
1) "how one feels when something is beyond his or her control" and
2) "how one feels when another person is causing some negative or harmful
situation to occur and persist in one's life".
These definitions are quite useful because they immediately open the door to
a possible solution.
In a situation where things are sometimes a little out of control, it is important
to realise that you can't always control everything. There are always many factors
and things which are beyond your control. You just have to learn how to handle
these things as best you can.
This doesn't mean one shouldn't try to be more effective. Sometimes better planning
might help to avoid problems. Sometimes it might help to just look over the
situation and concentrate on what you can control and do this fully.
This covers all areas of one's life and includes work, social life and family
life. There will always be problems and barriers that crop up. This is just
part of life. It has been said that this is what makes life interesting and
worthwhile. There are always setbacks in life it is how we cope and overcome
them that decides the final outcome.
Sometimes a stressful situation or tough part of one's life might be being caused
by just one person. The rotten apple spoiling things for everyone else. These
negative people specialise in making chaos around them. One usually comes across
a few of these people in the course of one's life. The only way I have managed
to feel relief when connected to these people has been either to stand up to
them and be strong or if that didn't work to end contact with them. It was just
not worth having them around anymore. They were causing far more harm than good.
Unfortunately they are often experts at disguising their true motives and intentions
and it is only by carrying out a careful analysis of everyone involved in a
situation that one can spot the real cause of the problem. Thankfully, these
types of people are very much in a minority, but nevertheless they do exist.
These are hard words and don't make easy reading. But the point is that a
relatively minor number of people are excessively negative and harmful to
be around. Why put yourself through lots of needless misery with guaranteed
damage to ones health and happiness when you don't have to.
If standing up to the person and trying to have a calm, sensible dialogue about
the problem doesn't work despite your best efforts, perhaps it would be time
to remove yourself from the situation.
This could relate to many spheres of your life, such as a "nasty boss",
a negative "friend" etc...
I have watched and observed too many of my work colleagues, friends and relatives
over the years put up with painful situations in their lives without doing enough
to either handle the situation or end it. The result has usually been intense
levels of stress, anxiety and painful emotion all resulting in a quite rapid
deterioration in health, some of which was never recovered from.
So if stress is a major factor in your life take at look at the causes and do
something about it. This often takes courage, guts and a willingness to handle
the situation. Handle it well and it may be the start of whole new (better)
chapter in your life.
Nothing here means that you have to take dramatic steps or changes. Sometimes
the knowledge that something is not as good as it should be and knowing the
reason why, can bring about relief.
There is a proven link between stress and physical health problems. Sometimes
this "stress" is caused by others. In such instances action should
be taken to improve the situation. Your health and well-being are more important
than putting up with negative influences of other people.
There is much more I could talk about here but that would be beyond the scope
of this newsletter. If you want any further information please write or e-mail
me, care of the company. "

4) Healthy children.
Parents often ask us questions about children and their health problems.
We often get asked about how a child's diet should be or about specific health
supplements.
Two important factors in a child's health are diet and exercise (physical
activity). Whilst these same things very much apply to adults, it is perhaps
even more important for children.
Many childhood habits formed in the early years continue on into adulthood.
So, it is important that children know that they should take a common sense
approach.
It is sometimes surprising to realise that most children if educated on the
subject do take some responsibility for their own health. Perhaps we shouldn't
be too surprised when this occurs and maybe in some ways they should be treated
more like "very young adults" as opposed to "children".
The point is children must be encouraged to eat sensibly and to do some physical
activity. These two points have been in the news a great deal over the last
few years, particularly with regard to those children who are obese and do
no exercise at all.
It is true that a young person's body is more adaptable to bad eating habits
and that there may not seem to be noticeable health problems at first glance.
However, kids should be encouraged to eat healthily, especially more fresh
fruit and vegetables and less junk food. Most of us love to eat a bit of chocolate
or a snack now and again. So long as this does not become the norm then all
should be ok.
As adults we share the responsibility for children's health and they should
be encouraged to undertake some physical activity at least a few times a week.
This could be any sport, leisure activity or just helping with the gardening
or house work. Above all it should be fun.
I'm sure most adults have heard this many times before but there is a increasing
number of children who do no activity at all and without any doubt these children's
health will suffer in the long term.
Common sense is the over-riding principle here. TV, computer games and less
emphasis on sports in schools have all led to less physical activity.
So the key is striking the right balance. Snack foods, TV and computer games
etc. can still exist, but only in conjunction with some exercise/physical
activity, fresh fruit and veg in the diet and a bit of common sense education.
This is all well researched but can be easily ignored because of the pressures
of everyday living in this fast world we now live in. We have a duty to look
after our children and to educate them into looking after themselves too.

5) Natural hormone replacement.
Fluctuating hormone levels in women can be very distressing.
At certain times, particularly during the menopause cycle and during menstruation
cycles, hormone levels can swing dramatically.
This can lead to various negative feelings and very often mood swings.
A person's energy levels can also be badly affected. A person can experience
periods of lethargy followed by periods of higher energy and then periods
of lethargy again. Tiredness is often a common factor as well as various other
negative symptoms.
Many of these ailments are caused or worsened by fluctuating hormone levels.
These processes and chemical reactions in the body are highly complex and
not completely understood by science.
There are often many side effects from conventional treatments and more and
more women are pursuing a more natural course.
There are a number of well known herbs which have been used for centuries
for this time of live. These include Black Cohosh, Chasteberry, Wild Yam and
Dang Gui. Other well known herbs include Red Clover, Red Raspberry, Lemon
Balm, Liquorice, Dandelion and Damiana.
Organic Nutrition are delighted to announce the new "Female Balance Kit".
The kit includes the following:
- 100ml bottle of organic Black Cohosh tincture.
- 120 capsules of a special herb combination containing pure organic Chasteberry,
Dong Quai and Wild Yam
- An invigorating, great tasting herbal tea which contains Red Clover, Red
Raspberry, Lemon Balm, Damiana Leaf, Rose Hips, Liquorice, Dong Quai, Chasteberry,
Dandelion Root, Orange and Fennel.
Each of these herbs complements the others. You take one to three capsules
per day and drink at least one cup of the tea per day. You can add a few drops
of the Black Cohosh liquid to the tea or have it separately with water or juice
of your choice. So the kit will last approximately 5 to 6 weeks or longer depending
on how much you use. Full instructions are included on the labels etc.
Normally these individual products sell at £12-95 for the Black Cohosh,
£14-95 for the combination and £8-97 for the tea. This would come
to £36-87 in total.
Bought together in the "Female Balance Kit", the price is reduced
to just £29-95.
For more information on the kit and the herbs, visit the following link:

All of the herbs used in the kit are organic and free from any harsh chemicals,
additives or any other man-made ingredients. This is extremely important for
